Subsidies and financing for the energy transition: What can your homeowners' association do?
As an Owners' Association (VvE), you may want to make your building more sustainable, but costs can be a barrier. Fortunately, there are subsidies and financing options available to make the energy transition more affordable. In this article, we outline the key schemes available to VvEs.
Subsidies for VvEs
The SVVE (Subsidy for Making VvEs More Sustainable) is designed specifically for VvEs and covers up to 40% of the costs for measures such as insulation, heat pumps, solar panels, and charging stations. Small VvEs (comprising as few as two homes) can also make use of this scheme. A key advantage is that the SVVE is suitable for comprehensive renovations that combine multiple measures.
In addition, there is the ISDE (Investment Subsidy for Sustainable Energy and Energy Saving), which covers 20% to 40% of the costs for heat pumps, solar water heaters, insulation, and connections to a heat network. This subsidy is also available to VvEs and can be combined with other schemes.
Financing options
For VvEs with limited financial resources, the National Heat Fund (Nationaal Warmtefonds) offers attractive, low-interest loans for measures such as heat pumps, insulation, and solar energy. These loans are also available to lower-income households.
Furthermore, various banks—such as Rabobank, ING, ABN AMRO, ASN Bank, and Triodos Bank—offer interest rate discounts on loans for sustainability projects. This type of green financing can be combined with subsidies, further reducing the total costs.
